CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina will open the women's basketball season ranked 16th in the preseason Associated Press poll, which was released on Tuesday. It marks the second year in a row the Tar Heels have opened the year in the top 20.
The Tar Heels were ranked 19th in the final AP poll of the 2022-23 season, which they finished with a 22-11 record and a third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Seven players return from that team and are joined by eight newcomers to make up this year's squad, which opens the season on Nov.
